Happy Days

My parents had a hard time doing things with my sister and I as a family. We had my great grandfather living with us and he couldn't be left alone at all. We did very little together. I remember a day when someone offered to watch my great grandfather. We went to a drive up ice cream shop and had icecream together as a family. That is a memory that comes back to me quite often. :)

I loved when my Granddad used to take us on days out. We went to old museums and beaches and things like that and those are very fond memories I will always keep with me.

I recall long summer holidays in Germany when my dad was in the army, i was 8 or 9 yrs old and we had the best of times.
They didnt cost anything other than sandwiches and juice to keep the kids going and a very long line of paddling pools.
We lived in flats at the time and all the parents were either out in front with us or on their balconies enjoying the sun and watching over the kids.

We had skipping ropes, two ball and rounders for those who'd had enough of the water, we'd play all day till bed time.
