How to Choose Eye Shadow to Accentuate your Eyes Articl10

Many women make the mistake of choosing their eye shadow shade based on the color of their clothes. However, it is best to choose a shade of eyeshadow and/or liner that complements your eye color and your skin color, not your clothes. Using a color that highlights the features of your eyes will add to your beauty, not detract from it. Here are a few tips on the best way to make your eye color pop.

Instructions

Choose your eye shadow based on your eye color. If you have green or hazel eyes, warm and vibrant shades of brown, copper, peach, or pink as well as cooler deeper shades of lavender, beige, or moss will work wonders. With blue or grey eyes, warm and rich shades of pink or brown and cooler more intense shades of gray, charcoal, blue, lavender, violet will highlight your eyes. If you have brown eyes, you are the most versatile in terms of the colors you choose. Warm browns and pinks work for you as well as cool blues, greens, or purples.

Or choose your eye shadow based on your skin tone for a less dramatic effect. Use the back of your hand as a guide, and go for colors that are are rich, subtle, and natural. With a fair complexion, it is best to avoid dark colors and with a dark complexion, it is best to avoid light colors.

Learn how to apply eyeshadow correctly. The lightest color is swept in the corner of the eye, over the eyelid, and towards the brow bone. A medium color is generally used on the eyelid and lightly smudged under the bottom lashes. The darkest color is used in the crease of the eyelid at the outer corner of the eye

Use eyeliner to line the roots of the upper and lower lashes. An eyeliner that complements your eyeshadow in a slightly darker shade is an excellent way to make your eyes stand out. However, too dark of a shade can actually make your eyes look smaller so it is important to choose the right shade for you.

Add mascara last. Mascara will add definition to your eyes and complete a look that will really accentuate your eye color. Use a black mascara with a darker complexion and a mascara closer to brown with a lighter complexion. Also, using an eyelash curler prior to mascara can help sweep your eyelashes upward, making them appear longer.

Use a variation in color. If you're going for a day look, generally lighter shades are best. If you're completing a look for a night out, darker shades are appropriate.
