If You’re Craving Something Chocolaty

The cure: Chocolate―but the right kind. The beneficial antioxidants in cocoa can be destroyed during processing. Pick bars that preserve the good stuff, like Cocoa Via (with only 100 calories, it’s a good size for a snack, says dietitian Maureen Callahan) or those with a cocoa content of at least 60 percent.

If You’re Craving Something Cold and Creamy

The cure: Stonyfield Farm’s YoBaby yogurt. It’s meant for babies, but you’ll find this smooth-as-custard treat tastes richer than ice cream, regardless of your age. You’ll get a dose of protein and calcium but a lot less sugar, fat, and calories than from a bowl of rocky road , It has just enough fat to feel indulgent.

If You’re Craving Something Crunchy and Salty

The cure: Sahale Snacks Soledad Blend or Valdosta Blend. These almonds and pecans, mixed with ingredients like black pepper and balsamic vinegar, deliver a kick not found in a chip. You’ll also get more fiber. And, says Callahan, the fat source (healthy nuts instead of saturated oils) is a lot better for you.

If You’re Craving Something Rich and Chewy

The cure: A LaraBar. Seemingly sinful, it’s packed with nothing but good-for-you stuff, like unsweetened cocoa and dates. Each LaraBar is the equivalent of 1½ servings of fruit, so it’s fiber-rich―which Callahan likes, since most Americans eat only about half the fiber they need each day.
