Well I am allergic to most over the counter cold meds so the only choices I have are cough drops or some type of honey and lemon tea. I can take Alkeseltzer Cold Plus but that is pretty much the only cold medicine I can take when I get sick.

oh yes hun, the next time you get to feeling ill, like a cold or sore throat try drinking some lemon tea with a bit of honey mixed in. It does wonders for making you feel better!
Here are some of the benefits of drinking it. I'll link the original article at the bottom for anyone who would like to go read some more about it.

Honey and lemon tea uses the benefits of both honey and lemon to help the body and mind. The benefits of lemon honey tea include the following:

Honey lemon tea acts as a body cleanser and removes toxins from the body.
It aids in digestion and provide a calming effect on the stomach.
It detoxifies the body and boosts the immune system of the body
Honey and lemon tea is an effective home remedy for common ailments like colds and sore throats. This is because it is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Honey lemon tea also relieves coughs effectively. This herbal tea is full of natural enzymes and vitamin C from lemon and honey that help coat the throat and soothe it.

It helps to cure skin disorders and reduce acne due to its antioxidant property.
It helps to lose weight as both honey and lemon are fat burning foods.
Honey lemon tea helps not only to energize the body but also energize the mind, owing to its calming effect.
Antioxidants in honey and lemon tea can reduce the risks of skin cancer and help in maintaining a healthy skin.
Owing to its antibacterial, antifungal and natural antioxidant properties, honey lemon tea helps to prevent infections and diseases.
An excess of consumption of alcohol can lead to a hangover, an unpleasant, bad taste in the mouth and an uneasy stomach. Lemon honey tea is an excellent remedy for hangovers. The fructose in honey prevents rapid changes in alcohol levels.

Honey Lemon Tea RecipeHoney lemon tea recipe is simple. Boil the water and add tea leaves. Drain the boiled tea into a cup and add honey to it. Add one spoon of lemon juice to this. You can prepare this great energy booster in microwave as well.

Take water in a mug and add honey and microwave it for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Add lime juice and stir well till the honey gets dissolved. Adding sugar is optional.

Drinking honey and lemon tea in the morning on an empty stomach can be very beneficial. It works as an excellent detox agent. Besides cleansing your body, it can uplift your mood and can drive out lethargy.

I like to use asda's own brand of Max strength cold and flu capsules.
They take a day or two to kick in but boy do they help dry you up and keep you on your feet xxx
