We all like to save money but with back to school season the kids want new back to school clothing, supplies, a lunch box and the list goes on. The price tag of your back to school list can break the bank if you aren’t careful. To help you save some money and go green here are three simple tips:
1. Reuse. Does your child have to have a new pencil box or will some stickers and decorations make the old one look like new? How about the folders, lunch box and backpack? Can you add patches or glue on sparkly gems? What do you really have to buy and what can you reuse but make new with some accessories that cost just pennies?
2. Resale. I highly recommend shopping resale for those jackets, boots and seasonal wear that children often only use for one season. You’ll find discounted prices that will help your wallet.
3. Bulk. Stock up school supplies, snack foods for lunches and those disposable items like tissues while the back to school sales are taking place – you’ll save big in the long run!
another idea sent in by a reader suggests making an infentory of what supplies you buy, you may discover you have things like highlighters and pencils left from your last shopping spree.
